Patna, November 12 : Bihar has created electoral history with record-breaking voter participation in the 2025 Assembly Elections. With 65.08% turnout in the first phase and a remarkable 68.76% in the second phase, the state witnessed its highest-ever polling percentage since Independence — a reflection of citizens’ growing faith and enthusiasm in democracy.

Historic Turnout in Bihar

According to the Election Commission, polling across both phases remained peaceful and incident-free, marking a proud moment for Bihar’s electoral machinery.

Record-Breaking Voter Participation

The second phase recorded a massive 3.5% jump over the first, signalling a dynamic shift in Bihar’s political mood. The Kasba Assembly constituency registered the highest turnout at 80.89%, while Nawada reported the lowest at 54.83%.

From bustling cities to remote villages, polling day turned into a celebration of democracy. Women queued up in colourful saris, voter slips neatly tucked into their pallus, while young first-time voters echoed the slogan — “Pehla Vote, Sahi Soch” (First Vote, Right Choice). Elderly voters, many of whom witnessed India’s first elections, proudly called the experience a reaffirmation of the freedom they had once fought for.

Analysts Hail a ‘New Bihar’

Political analyst and senior journalist Lav Kumar Mishra described the turnout as a “silent revolution,” noting that the unprecedented participation showed a confident and aware Bihar.

“This is not just an election — it’s a festival of public consciousness,” Mishra said. “The people of Bihar have proved once again that the power of the vote is greater than any crown.”

Next Stop: Counting on November 14

With polling complete, the fate of 2,616 candidates contesting for 243 Assembly seats is now sealed in the EVMs. All eyes are on November 14, when counting of votes will take place and Bihar will find out which alliance will form the next government — and who among the 243 will shape the state’s destiny.

This election, marked by enthusiasm, discipline, and record participation, has not only redefined Bihar’s electoral legacy but also reaffirmed its position as the true torchbearer of India’s democracy.
